TOUR UPDATE: Rod Stewart is coming to Switzerland

Europe will get its Sir Rod Stewart back in 2027! As announced today, the British singer will perform a concert in Locarno, Switzerland, on Thursday, July 22. The show, taking place in the Piazza Grande, is part of the Moon & Stars festival, which has been held since 2003, when it began with a concert by R.E.M. Since then, numerous stars have graced the stage around Lake Maggiore. Among others, such stars as Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Bryan Adams, Lenny Kravitz, Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, Santana, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, the Scorpions, Christina Aguilera, Roxette, and Status Quo have performed there. For Sir Rod, at the "tender" age of 82, this will be a first in his career. The promoter has high hopes for Stewart's performance and is already waxing lyrical: "A stroll along the lakeside promenade, the evening light over Lake Maggiore, and that voice from the Piazza Grande. Rough as sandpaper and warm as a July afternoon," write the organizers of Moon & Stars on their website. "In the afternoon, a boat on Lake Maggiore, in the evening, 'sailing' under the open sky. A proper arrivederci," the promoters say, alluding to the tour slogan "The Last Encore." Tickets for Rod Stewart's final show in Switzerland will be available starting next Monday at noon, with presale beginning this Friday.
