Today, musician and Rod Rod's former backing vocalist Lucy Woodward celebrates her 49th birthday. Lucy was born in London in 1977, the daughter of an opera singer and a conductor, so musical talent was practically in her blood from day one.

In the early 2000s, the singer began her foray into the music industry, step by step, constantly developing her skills and never losing sight of her goals.

She achieved her commercial breakthrough in 2003 with the album "While You Can." This was followed seven years later by "Hooked!", supported by her New York band and largely produced by David Bowie's producer Tony Visconti. For "Til They Bang on the Door" in 2016, Woodward enlisted Michael League of Snarky Puppy and Henry Hey (Forq, Rudder, David Bowie) as co-producers.

Lucy toured with Sir Rod Stewart from 2012 to 2016, performing on stages all over the world and appearing at major events such as Live in Hyde Park and Rock in Rio.

After four years, Lucy reluctantly decided to leave the band and dedicate herself to her own solo projects.

However, contact with her former boss Rod Stewart never completely ceased, and he kept a close eye on what his former singer was up to. "Lucy is an enchanting, breathtaking woman, inside and out," Stewart once said about Woodward and her latest work, "I Need To Roam" (2026). "She is pure creative magic."
