Following the cancellation of two concerts and, in some cases, wild speculation about Sir Rod Stewart’s state of health, the singer has now spoken out in a statement on his Instagram: “I’m already feeling better,” wrote the 81-year-old. At the same time, his management provided clarification and announced a break from touring.
“Following further medical examinations, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure,” the statement read. A coronary stent procedure is a minimally invasive medical procedure in which a doctor inserts a tiny wire mesh tube (a stent) into a narrowed or blocked coronary artery. The aim is to keep the artery permanently open, ensuring the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart and reducing the risk of a heart attack. “The doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well – he has already resumed his normal daily routine,” the official statement continued.

That’s the good news – and arguably the most important news of all. However, as a result, Rod is unable to continue his US tour as planned for the time being. “On the advice of his doctors, he will spend the next four weeks recovering and getting back to full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he cannot continue with his current tour dates,” Team Stewart explained via social media.
Rod himself wrote: “I’m already feeling better and am continuing to make a good recovery. I’d like to thank the doctors, the nurses and everyone who has looked after me so wonderfully. I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows, and I’m sorry to let my fans down, but I’m looking forward to being back on stage soon and having a great time with you all.”

There has been, and continues to be, great concern for Sir Rod; friends, colleagues and fans from all corners of the world have sent him their best wishes for a speedy recovery. Singer Richard Marx, who was on stage with Rod just a few days ago, wrote: “I wish my hero, tour mate and dear friend @sirrodstewart a speedy recovery. You’ll be fit and back in top form in no time, my brother. ❤” Singer Georgina Napolitano, who will be touring with Rod Stewart as a backing singer in 2025, commented: “I’m sending all my healing energy your way, love you Sir.” And Swing Fever mate Jools Holland was also quick to respond: “Get well very soon, mate.”
There were also thousands of words of encouragement from fans. Jean Allbeury wrote: “I wish you a speedy recovery! Take all the time you need to get back to full health! ♥”
Henry Stewart echoed this sentiment: “Sir Roderick, the most important thing is that your medical procedure was successful, that you’re doing well and that you’re recovering. We’re sending you our positive thoughts, because your health is the most important thing!
Take good care of yourself and may you live a long life!”

How will Sir Rod Stewart’s illness affect his tour schedule? “Information regarding the affected events will be announced by the respective organisers and venues,” reads the official statement. On the Ticketmaster ticketing portal, all concerts for the rest of August have already been cancelled, including all six shows in Las Vegas. No further information on changes to the tour schedule is available at this stage.
To conclude this news item, please allow us to add a personal note: "Dear Rod! The Storyteller team wishes you a speedy and full recovery. We all hope to see you back on stage very soon – and many more times to come. But health is the most important thing in life, so please take all the time in the world that you need to make a full recovery. Forever Young! Up The Hoops!"
