Honour where honour is due. The US television network CBS and streaming service Paramount+ present “Forever Young: A Grammy Salute To Rod Stewart Live”. The concert documentary, lasting around two hours, will be broadcast on 19 May.

Rod Stewart may well have doubted his relationship with the Grammys on more than one occasion. It’s a bit like a football striker who has plenty of golden opportunities at his feet but only scores once.
Sir Rod has been nominated for a Grammy a total of 15 times, but has only won it once in all those years – in 2005, when he received the coveted golden gramophone statuette for his album “Stardust – The Great American Songbook Volume III”.

Perhaps the Recording Academy has now come to the conclusion that it is time to pay a grander tribute to the British singer, who, as we all know, has been making his mark on the music scene for over six decades.

And so the idea became the TV special “Forever Young: A Salute to Rod Stewart Live”. The two-hour concert special, named after Stewart’s Grammy-nominated hit “Forever Young” from 1988, was recorded over two evenings in February in Hollywood, Florida. “Forever Young: A Grammy Salute to Rod Stewart Live” also offers insights into the man behind the music. Stewart invites viewers behind the scenes, where he reflects on his life, his family and his passion for the stage in interview segments. The special features rare archive footage and exclusive behind-the-scenes insights.

Stewart received a total of 15 Grammy nominations over a period of 31 years (1980 to 2011) across five categories. He received five nominations for Traditional Pop, four each for Pop and Rock, and one each for Disco (namely for “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy”) and for Best Short Form Music Video.

“Forever Young: A Grammy Salute to Rod Stewart Live” airs on Tuesday 19 May at 8pm ET (2am CEST) on CBS. At the same time, the documentary about one of the last living music legends will be available to stream on Paramount+.
