In the starting blocks: ‘Alternate Atlantic Crossing’ is due out on 18 April

To mark this year’s Record Store Day, which takes place on 18 April in independent record shops across the country, Rod is releasing a new limited edition of 3,000 copies of his 1975 album ‘Atlantic Crossing’, pressed on Tidal Wave vinyl. Entitled “Alternate Atlantic Crossing”, it features 10 rare, alternative versions of the tracks from the original album.

Record Store Day is the only day of the year when independent record shops worldwide simultaneously offer their customers particularly high-quality and rare music releases and special editions. All products (special editions, limited editions, unreleased B-side compilations, etc.) are produced and released simultaneously for this one day only; hundreds of bands and artists are out and about on this day for special in-store gigs and meet & greets under the Record Store Day banner. It has truly become an international event: the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy and Japan are taking part in Record Store Day worldwide.

To mark the occasion, Sir Rod is releasing his alternate version of the 1975 album ‘Atlantic Crossing’, which contains ten rare alternate versions that reveal the raw, evolving sound of his famous leap across the Atlantic. Highlights include an emotional “I Don’t Want To Talk About It” and “Too Much Noise”, the explosive early version of “Stone Cold Sober”.
