Faces to release new Archival Album

A new archive album featuring the earliest recordings by legendary British band Faces will be released on 31 October. The 10-track collection, entitled Early Steps, contains previously unreleased tracks from the first recording sessions by the Rod Stewart-fronted group in autumn 1969 at Olympic Studios in London.

The album also includes recordings from 1969 of Faces rehearsals at the Rolling Stones' warehouse in Bermondsey, London. All tracks are taken from cassettes from the archives of Faces members.

Early Steps contains alternative and/or early versions of five songs that appear on Faces' 1970 debut album First Step. These include ‘Shake, Shudder, Shiver’, ‘Devotion’, “Flying” and ‘Stone’.

The album, which is available for pre-order now, will be released on CD and vinyl LP. The physical versions of the record will come with a booklet containing detailed liner notes.

On their official Instagram channel, the band wrote: "Join The Faces on a journey back in time to 1960s London! We are delighted to announce the release of a 1xCD and 1xLP featuring the band's first, previously unreleased recordings on 31st October. Take a stroll along the Thames and hear the Faces' earliest recordings in all their raw glory. This release includes the band's very first recording session at Olympic Studios, as well as rehearsals from the Rolling Stones' Bermondsey warehouse, all sourced from the Faces' own tapes."
