Six sold-out shows at Caesars Palace, enthusiastic fans, a cheerful singer on stage and, as always, a brilliant band alongside him – Sir Rod Stewart's autumn session in Las Vegas was once again a huge success.
Back in June, the mood among Rod and his audience was at rock bottom when the 80-year-old had to cancel several shows in the desert city of Nevada due to a persistent cold. All the more reason for his triumphant return to the Colosseum. Over six days, the Brit offered his fans the big hits of his career as usual, but also surprised the audience with a few lesser-known songs.
In particular, ‘If Lovin' You Is Wrong (I Don't Want To Be Right)’, the song that made it onto Stewart's 1977 album ‘Footloose and Fancy Free’, was probably THE surprise on Stewart's set lists at Caesars in recent days. Even long-time fans found it difficult to remember when Sir Rod last performed live. ‘Fantastic, I still can't believe this happened,’ wrote one person under a video of the performance. ‘If only he would play more of them,’ said another.
In any case, the fans were so enthusiastic about the singer's performance that no one held it against Sir Rod that he had to read the lyrics to ‘If Lovin' You Is Wrong’ from a piece of paper. But that didn't stop the Celtic fan from performing the song with a lot of feeling and emotion on stage. ‘He can be so brilliant when he steps out of his comfort zone of big hits,’ wrote one fan on Facebook. And no one would disagree.
Otherwise, there were few surprises on the set lists. ‘Addicted To Love’ was once again the opening song, and of course hits such as ‘Forever Young’, ‘Maggie May’, ‘Young Turks’ and ‘Da Ya Think I'm Sexy’ were among the highlights of the shows in Sin City.
Stewart fans will have been all the more delighted to hear the news that Sir Rod will also be performing at Caesars Palace in 2026. Last week, it was announced that he will be returning to Las Vegas for a total of six concerts from the end of May to the beginning of June.
However, this year's final Vegas concert is far from the end of the tour. On Tuesday, Sir Rod will be inviting his fans in Mexico City to another big party. He will then travel via the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Chile to Argentina, where Sir Rod will perform at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires on three consecutive days.
