We look back to the year 1984. On 18 June, Rod Stewart released his album ‘Camouflage’ as the follow-up to the successful LP ‘Body Wishes’, which featured the number-one hit ‘Baby Jane’. Songs from “Camouflage” that we still hear performed live regularly today include “Infatuation” and “Some Guys Have All The Luck”. Far less in the spotlight today is the cover version of the Free hit “All Right Now”, which was first released in 1970. The song was written by the band’s bassist, Andy Fraser. He died eleven years ago at the age of 62 from a heart attack. Fraser was born in London and became a founding member of the band Free at the age of 15. During his long career, in addition to Rod Stewart’s “All Right Now”, he also wrote songs for other music industry greats such as Robert Palmer (“Every Kinda People”), Joe Cocker (“Sweet Little Woman”) and Chaka Khan. Rod’s band still performs the song “I’m Every Woman”, written by Fraser, during their shows today, whilst Stewart changes into yet another outfit backstage.
