Who among us doesn't remember the blonde saxophonist who rocked the stages of the world alongside Rod Stewart for many years? Katja Rieckermann left the band in early 2016 to devote more time to her solo career, and she has done so with great success. She didn't completely break away from Sir Rod, however, as they remained in regular contact and even worked together again in 2019 when Katja produced a new saxophone version of Stewart's disco classic “Da Ya Think I'm Sexy.” When the North German asked Sir Rod for his permission to release this song, he spontaneously came up with the idea of singing the lyrics to this version. No sooner said than done, the result was a lively and rousing dance sax version, which was released in November 2019.
Katja and Bernhard met in January 2025 and, as the musical chemistry was immediately right, they decided to work together. “The ideas just bubbled up, flew back and forth, and our different musical backgrounds led to a versatile and interesting sound that doesn't adhere to preconceived norms,” reports Rieckermann. “The use of unconventional instruments and influences from all kinds of genres helped us create a truly unique sound.”
They have now created enough material to fill an album. And in order to finally realize this project, the two have launched a crowdfunding campaign to cover the enormous costs. “Since we want to use real musicians and first-class recording studios, we need your support to make this happen,” says Katja. “The funds raised will be used directly for studio time, hiring talented studio musicians, mixing, mastering, and creating promotional materials such as photos and videos after the record is completed.”
