A distinguished visitor at the temple of football: on Saturday afternoon, Sir Rod Stewart honoured us with a visit to the FIFA Museum the day after his concert in Zurich. The singer, who – as we all know – is a big fan of Celtic Football Club, simply cannot do without the beautiful game. One day after the draw for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada, Stewart took a look at the World Cup trophy that will be contested next summer. His beloved Scots will face record world champions Brazil, Morocco and Haiti: Rod's assessment of the Tartan Army's chances in this group was not initially disclosed.
Stewart's visit to the FIFA Museum took place during regular opening hours, so it didn't take long for other visitors to recognise him and ask for the obligatory selfies. FIFA was delighted to welcome the music legend. ‘The FIFA Museum had the honour of welcoming Sir Rod Stewart for a private tour on Saturday afternoon,’ FIFA wrote on its website. And: ‘Sir Rod Stewart's visit reflects the deep connection between football and music, two universal languages that inspire passion and bring communities together.’
Stewart has been following the Scottish national team for decades and regularly attends the Bravehearts' matches. It is not yet certain whether he will watch one of the World Cup matches live next year. After all, Sir Rod will be touring the USA next June, so a quick detour to a match featuring his Scottish team would theoretically be possible.
